HI, I'M ANN!
Welcome to my website, were you can find my blog and portfolio. Designer in the Making is my story of becoming an interior designer.

I want to be an interior designer because I want to change the world: Design impacts lives. As a designer I hope to change the quality of life in day to day scenarios: office design. In order to reach my goal as designer I go to Marymount University, where I am getting my bachelors degree. One thing I learned at Marymount was to research before I start my project. That research has taught me a lot. One of my favorite things I learned from research was ergonomics in chairs and how it can affect a humans back. I know use ergonomic chairs in all of my office designs.

Not only do I learn at Marymount, I also learn from experience. I currently work for a interior designer, who has her own residential design firm. I work as her associate. My role as associate leads me to do such tasks as: source items, create floor plans and layouts, talk to clients, and even small design jobs. Working for her has really opened up my eyes to how the design business is run, and also how to design 'real-world' projects.

Another form of experience I have is with interior design organizations, like ASID (American Society of Interior Designers) and NKBA (National Kitchen and Bath Association). I really enjoy networking at their events and an ad bonus I seem to always learn something new at each event. Most events have a quest speaker, thy talk about their company and what they do, or talk about current trends. I also learn from just networking. I get to meet and talk with current professionals in the field (which some have taken me under their wing).
After many networking events, I started to make a name for myself. I was asked, back in 2017, if I would become the student representative for the ASID Washington Metro Chapter. I am still currently the student representative and will continue to be until October 2019. My goal as student representative, is to show students the power of networking and to show them that once they get their degree, there are so many paths for them to take.

My hopes with my blog is to inspire others. I want visitors to see the events I go to and make them want to attend networking events. I want them to see my research and get inspired to start digging into the design world. I want student visitors to see my school project and see how you can gain more skills over time, and give them confidence.

I did have a mishap where I tried to move my old blog to this new blog, and unfortunately, it did not work. So I have to start all over again and that is why I do not have many posts.
